Jayme Diehl is the Founder and Executive Director of Smart Diehl Academy and an educator who believes the learner should always come before the lesson.
Before founding SDA, Jayme spent eight years in public education as an elementary classroom teacher and K–5 Instructional Coach and MTSS leader. Her experiences working with learners, teachers, and families shaped a simple belief: children thrive when they are known, challenged, supported, and given more than one way to learn.
In 2023, that belief became Smart Diehl Academy. What began with just five learners has grown into a thriving educational community built around strong relationships, meaningful academics, curiosity, creativity, and individualized learning.
Jayme leads SDA’s educational vision, program development, and continued growth while staying closely connected to the learners, families, and teachers who make the community what it is.
Her philosophy is simple: see the learner before the lesson, meet them where they are, and if the first way doesn’t work—find another way.
And yes, she also teaches ukulele. 💛
"I believe learning starts with connection. Before we can teach a learner well, we have to know their strengths, interests, challenges, personalities, and what makes them curious. My role as an educator isn’t to make every learner fit the same mold. It’s to meet them where they are, challenge them to grow, and find another way when the first one doesn’t work. I believe in meaningful academics, hands-on experiences, curiosity, creativity, and giving learners the space to ask questions, take risks, make mistakes, and discover what they’re capable of. Above all, I want learners to feel known, valued, and excited to learn! I fully believe that when children feel safe enough to be themselves, that’s where real learning begins."
