MEET MRS. ALVA

Hello! I have been teaching in Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools for 22 years and I absolutely love what I do!  I got my undergraduate degree from Appalachian State University in Elementary Education (Go Mountaineers!) and my Master's Degree in Education from Grand Canyon University just a few years later! I am trained in Orton Gillingham and I enjoy working with all levels of learning and supporting children to reach their full potential. I love building relationships with my students and creating a positive learning environment in which they feel loved and valued. I'm originally from Texas but I've lived in North Carolina for about 30 years. My husband and I, along with our 2 children, live in Stanly County. We also have a one year old golden doodle that keeps us on our toes!

Fun Facts: I am a self-proclaimed book worm! If I have free time, you will more than likely see me with a book in my hand! I am also a huge sushi fanatic and am always looking for new places to try. Another fun fact about me is that I aspire to be on Wheel of Fortune one day!
