Field Trips at Kairos

Hands-On Nature Experiences at Kairos Farm – Midland, NC

Looking for a unique and meaningful field trip experience? Field Trips at Kairos offer hands-on, nature-based learning on a beautiful 7-acre farm just outside of Charlotte. We welcome school groups, camps, homeschoolers, and adult groups of all abilities for seasonal field trips filled with exploration, connection, and creativity.

What to Expect

At Smart Diehl Academy at Kairos, every field trip provides a meaningful, hands-on experience designed to connect learners with nature, sustainability, and each other. Groups can choose from traditional field trip programming or our new Unplugged experience for middle and high school students.

Activity Stations

Nature Exploration:
Guided nature walk, scavenger hunt, and ecosystem observation around our pond, gardens, and wooded trails. Students learn about local biodiversity, environmental stewardship, and the balance of ecosystems.

Animal Care:
Hands-on interaction with goats, ducks, and other farm animals. Students learn about animal needs, life cycles, and how humans care for and coexist with animals responsibly.

Sustainable Agriculture:
Discover gardening and farm-to-table practices in our garden and greenhouse. Students explore how plants grow, where food comes from, and how sustainable farming benefits communities and the planet.

Nature Crafting:
Create nature-inspired art using sustainable materials collected from the land. Students explore texture, color, and form while deepening their appreciation for the natural world.

Unplugged at Kairos (Middle School Option):
A nature-based social-emotional learning experience focused on mindfulness, creativity, and connection. Students participate in grounding exercises, guided reflection, and nature art designed to support mental wellness, emotional regulation, and teamwork.

Program Details

  • Cost: $18 per participant

  • Chaperones: One free teacher or caregiver for every 10 participants

  • Capacity: Up to 150 participants per visit

  • Length of Visit: Typically 2.5 to 3 hours 

  • Food: Groups should bring their own snacks and lunch; drinks and light snacks available for purchase

  • Deposit: A $500 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your date

Availability

Field trips are offered two days per week:

  • Wednesdays from 10:00 AM to 1 PM

  • Fridays from 10:00 AM to 1 PM

Times can be flexible depending on group needs and scheduling availability.
